FLOWERS… a poem

green and white flower garden

The flowers are so pretty

But the scenery is blue

Tell me, how did I get here

Was there nothing I could do

I did my best to love

And tried to do all that I could

For those who needed more than me

I hope they understood

Now, looking down upon the petals

Red, white and azure blue

I only wish I had more time

Before my life was through

A HEAVENLY TUNE… a poem

galaxy wallpaper

I sing into the wind

I hope it carries my happy tune

Sailing through the atmosphere

Up and around the moon

Dancing upon the eather

Picking up speed among the stars

Winking as the words set sail

Coercing a smile from Mars

Far out into the Milky Way

Where celestial music blends

Angels take up the chorus

And now my journey has found its end

LEGACY… a dark poem

Kindred, don’t leave me

This melancholy, too, shall soon pass

Bear with these fragile bones

One last time

Before they are consumed

By the fires of no return

Pray for me

After the passing

Stay with me

Until the chill of the morning

Lifts its veil

Upon a new day

Then, carry on the legacy

Seek out truth

Hide your true self

When the time is right

Revenge me

And leave a legacy

Of your own

photo of tall trees during foggy day

AFTER… a poem

overlooking view of mountains and sunrise

Subsequent to dying

I took a little tour

And discovered

All that I’d missed

And just a little more

The beauty within colors

That paint the morning sky

A field of flowers

All in bloom

Upon a mountainside

Precious little children

So dependent

And so sweet

Coo and smile

All the while

They play at momma’s feet

Fish within the ocean

Varieties – every kind

Birds so small

I’d have missed them all

If I hadn’t died

Creatures hiding in the bush

Some up in the trees

If only I had seen them

Before I sprouted wings

And while you do not hear me

My words are in the wind

Always say I love you

For we all come to an end

ODE TO A FRIEND… short song

I sing this dirge to my long-lost best friend

The times that we had were grand

The womens and boozes

And afternoon snoozes

Were a hell of a life for this man

But you left before me

Though you said you’d not go

And you’d wait for your friend of many years

Now I toast to your grave

Oh, the mess that you made

Now, I’m left with these memories and tears

Man Walking on Green Grass

PEACE AND SERENITY… a poem of faith

When I buy the farm

I don’t want to barter

No wrangling around

Or worse, a non-starter

I just hope to go

And join those before me

Hang out with my dad

And Jesus, he knows me

field of green grass

See uncles and aunts

Grandparents and cousins

Meet all the relatives

Angel’s wings buzzin’

And big fluffy clouds

All under my feet

Smiles all around

Yeah, what a retreat

long exposure photography of white cloud

One that will last

From now to infinity

Yes, that’s what I want

Peace and serenity

body of water and seashore

GOODBYE… a poem

man standing near ocean grayscale photography

Adrift on the outgoing tide

While I stood on the moonlit sands

Emotions that I couldn’t hide

Streams of tears pouring through my hands

The years we had together were kind

More than that – a fairytale come true

But when nature made up her mind

Instead of me she came and took you

So, with a vow I had promised to keep

Into the ocean your ashes swim free

As the horizon brings on the new day

A man stands alone – that’s me

DEATH…

I reached for you.

I beckoned to you.

Yet, you ignored me.

With head hung low

I slogged into the afterglow

Of a world gone dark

And an eye gone blind.

Death has come!

EYES OF WATERFALLS… a song

Image result for man crying in the rain

As I stand here in the rain

I can’t tell

What were tears and what were raindrops

When they fell

And the puddle that is growing

‘round my feet

Will find a hole in my soul

When they meet

silhouette of person standing on sea dock under cloudy sky

Please don’t talk about horizons

And of time

There is too much going on, now

In my mind

As these ashes of her spill upon the wind

Into the ocean of this sadness

And the end

I remember when we met

On that playground

For both of us love at first sight

I know, profound

Well, the years drew us closer

As they passed

And then the vows that we exchanged

Had come at last

man wearing black jacket

But fate had written heartache

All along

Crashing down the world around me

With this song

All my dreams and all my hopes

Were trampled down

Now, in these eyes of waterfalls

Is where I’m found

Don’t eat the berries… a poem

After eating the berries

In the woods where I walked

I sat leaning against a tree

And in my delirium, talked

To the gnomes and elves

That were circling round me

Apparently they

Had been hiding in the tree

I inquired why the light

Was getting so dim

As I took my last breath

And became one of them
