When the glamour faded
So did he
One moment there
The next – absentee
Why does this happen
All of the time
Will I ever find love
As myself – divine
Creating illusions
To capture the eye
Only to lose
Walk away and cry
Life isn’t fair
My mother always said
Yet I still find myself
Alone in this bed
But, maybe tomorrow
I’ll not wear the mask
Go out in the world
Take on the task
And maybe, if I’m lucky,
I’ll finally catch the eye
Of the love of my life
Well, at least it’s worth a try
