Daddy was the strong one
I had never seen him cry
When grandpa passed away
He came and wiped my eye
And grandma wasn’t far behind
She loved my grandpa so
He wiped away more tears that day
From me – but not his own
That was so very long ago
Now, with children by my side
My mamma passed away today
And daddy broke down and cried
This is so sweet! Reminds me of my daddy. 💕

This made me remember my father too. A great tribute, Kevin.

Thank you, Winnie! I’ve missed you out here! I am about to take a couple of weeks away from WP and just be off of work and away from everything except family. Need to adjust my brain and get back on track. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours! Kev

So true! It apparently (no pun intended) hit home with a few folks…

Thank you, sir! Actually, I made up the whole thing, so it wasn’t about my dad. Heck, he was a crier! 😳🤣

Oh, I liked this one. I’ve never seen my dad cry and, given our estrangement, probably never will. What I loved about this poem and what struck me was that your mom was the love of his life, and that romantic notion gets my heartstrings a going.
