Calibrate this silence in my mind so I can hear
There’s so much in the world distracting me
What of all the plans we made
It always seemed so clear
Now, nothing’s making sense – just rambling
These eyes no longer focus on what’s important in my life
Pollution to my retinas cause me stress
Lessons once were learned
But now elongate in their strife
I wake up every morning – a new mess
To touch the sweet horizon would be heaven on this plane
Kinship in its purest shape and form
But how do we recover
When you won’t even say my name
Counteracting kindness – now the norm
“Counteracting kindness” is an unusual turn of phrase, but a good one to make us stop and think about what we’re doing.

It seems appropriate these days, as so many folks disagree regardless…
