The smile on his face
Grew so wide.
He lay near his death.
His wife by his side.
Barely a whisper
These words did he say,
“I love you, my wife,”
Then he passed away.
And while the tears flowed
As she let go of his hand
A kiss on his lips
He was always her man.
There on her lap
Heavy laden – his quotes.
He left a lifetime of memories
In his poems and notes.
